Weekend Planner: Steak, Swine and Suds

Happy birthday, Grass Fed
Whole Roasted Swine
Here piggy piggy piggy - on Friday chef Greg Ellis roasts a whole Catalpa Grove pig and serves it with delectable sides such as wedge salad, mac ‘n’ cheese, baked beans, corn fritters and peach cobbler. Dinner is served at 7 PM at 2 Sparrows and costs $35 (773-234-2320).

Daiquiri Day
Rum, lime, sugar, repeat - these are the instructions to follow on Friday, aka Daiquiri Day. Barrelhouse Flat will be happy to show drinkers how its done. The bar will offer $3 off any traditional or Hemingway daiquiri (773-857-0421).

Grass Fed Steak
Brucktown’s quaint steakhouse turns one on Saturday, and is serving a $30 prix fixe dinner to celebrate. Dine on cured fluke with baby green and crispy mushrooms, hanger steak with green garlic vinaigrette and then blow out the candles on a slice of carrot cake with cream cheese frosting (773-342-6000).

Beer in Naperville
One hundred eighty different beers sounds like a decent excuse to head to the suburbs. Naperville Ale Fest welcomes Greenbush, Three Floyds and hometown hero Solemn Oath among others for Saturday’s festival. Tickets cost $45, or $15 for designated drivers.
