Root, a new vegan restaurant in Allston, opened yesterday. Guests can look forward to upwards of seven dishes - mostly sandwiches, wraps and a Korean quinoa bowl - and sides such as herb fries and sweet corn and jalapeño hush puppies. There’s also a black bean and quinoa burger with Boston lettuce, tomato, crispy onion and garlic aïoli and a BBQ portobello sandwich that includes housemade barbecue sauce, red cabbage slaw, crispy onions and aïoli on an Iggy’s bun. Dishes hover around $8 to $9. Juiced veggies, including a carrot, beet, kale and lemon variety, are part of the offerings.
The simple, clean interior features lots of reclaimed wood, including the white wood floor. As for the size, it's 19 seats - lending to lot of takeout.
