Photo of the Day: The Brioughnut From Confexion Cupcakes

Yep, more Cronut knock-offs. The originator, NYC's Dominique Ansel seems to be taking it all in stride, but they just won't stop. These little doo-dads come from Pasadena's Confexion Cupcakes, two-time Cupcake Wars champions that obviously do more than just cupcakes. As its brethren, the Brioughnut is a donut-brioche mash-up that's only available on Saturdays and Sundays. Look for new flavors every week via Confexion's Facebook page - this week you'll find lemon-blueberry-thyme, peanut butter cup and a simple glazed. Looks good. Anyone try them yet?

  1. Ooooh yea...the brioughnut is more than awesome! Fresh and yummy, slightly crisp on the outside yet fluffy on the inside it really melts in your mouth. If you haven't tried it yet you must.

  2. Brioughnuts are wonderful - light and airy, with lots of layers...slightly sweet with a hint of savory - the perfect snack.
