Owners of Montauk's South Edison Will Open Bo's in Chelsea This October

South Edison
Chef Todd Mitgang and Steven Kristel, partners in Montauk hot spot South Edison, have teamed up with Bo Young, the son of civil rights activist and former Atlanta mayor Andrew Young Jr, to open a New Orleans-inspired restaurant called Bo’s. The 72-seat bi-level spot, is due by October at 6 West 24th Street, and will feature French doors, mosaic tiles and velvet booths.

“We were thinking of what's missing in NY and we don't see much New Orleans flavor,’’ explains Kristel. “The menu will have our interpretations, more than traditional concepts. We will still use fresh ingredients. Many of those will be from Long Island farms we have long standing relationships with.’’ Like South Edison, appetizers will run about $12-$19, and entrees from mid $20s to mid $30s. Will we see jambalaya, gumbo and crawfish? “There will be our take on jambalaya or gumbo, but not both, we will not have a straight line po’ boy, and we probably will only have crayfish as a garnish.’’
