Ocean Prime, the ninth outpost for the modern American supper club from restaurateur Cameron Mitchell. It’s going into the former Roy’s at 15th and Sansom, taking over 8,500 square feet of the stately brick, Federal-style building, and will seat 130 people in a grand dining room and 60 more at a bi-level bar, known as Blu Lounge.
There are also three private dining rooms at the restaurant, which serves high-end seafood and steaks. Former Dallas Ocean Prime chef Sonny Pache will execute - he’s been with the company since 2004 - and former Starr Restaurant and Maggiano's operative Marc Oppen will be general manager. The “supper club” atmosphere means lots of warm wood and interesting lighting, and the design features a mezzanine and open “expo” kitchen.
Ocean Prime began life in 2006 as Ocean Club in Columbus, Ohio, and now has branches in Altanta, Dallas, Denver, Indianapolis, Phoenix, Orlando and Tampa. Cameron Mitchell Restaurants - which operates eight different concepts across 18 locations - will open another Ocean Prime in Beverly Hills next year. Stay tuned for interior photos and details on food as the Philly launch approaches.
