Now Open: Nikita in Malibu, Twin Palms Resurrected in Pasadena

More views in Malibu
Nobu has a new neighbor in Malibu, and there's nothing wrong with that considering the water view you have at the two PCH spots. Opening just in time for the Fourth of July beach-going crowd, Nikita is a new Mediterranean spot with a menu from chef Massimiliano Blasone (Michelin-starred from London's Apsleys) and Israeli pastry chef Tal Hausen, both a tea and wine sommelier, and a cocktail program from NYC's Greg Seider (The Summit Bar). But really, it's about that view, and you get it from two patios, one on the roof, or from just about any seat in the house - it's all windows, tall ceilings, bright and breezy and light. Oh, and the name: Nikita is owner/Oracle CEO Larry Ellison's girlfriend. The restaurant serves dinner nightly, with lunch coming soon (22716 Pacific Coast Hwy.; 310-456-3274). [Eater]

And clear across town, Twin Palms finally resurfaces in Pasadena. We saw work on it earlier this year, but everything is in place for the resurrection, including new furniture, freshly taut sails overhead, and a new chef, Michael Neflas (Drago Centro) leading charge with the menu. Look for everything from chicken liver toast with crispy chicken skin to sweetbread corndogs to sweet corn ravioli. According to Daily Dish, who checked it out the other night, the crowd is still the same. It's just the soft open phase for now for dinner only, but look for lunch and dinner on July 9 (101 W. Green St.; 626-577-4555).
