Max & Dylans Closes Downtown Making Room for Papagayo

Max & Dylans in Downtown Crossing
On Monday, July 21, Max & Dylans at 15 West St. in Downtown Crossing closed, confirmed Chris Damian, chef and owner of Legendary Restaurant Group, which operates the concept.

The group is slated to make cosmetic changes to the bi-level space, adding bright colors and Mexican décor and reopen (soft opening) by August 1, 2013 or thereabouts as Papagayo. This will be the group’s third location for the Mexican eatery; earlier this year it shuttered a Max & Dylans in Charlestown to convert that space into Papagayo.

“Call it proto-feel,” said Damian. In other words, each Papagayo location has a different layout but the colors and décor and menus – everything down to the glassware – are the same in each outlet.

The group also operates a recently-opened Max & Dylans in Bedford.

  1. Great! Another sh!tty Papagayo where the bright colors are supposed to distract you from the horrible service, premixed house margs and the elusive guacamole cart.

Unlikely Papagayo, I've had some pleasant visits to Max and Dylons and until now, I had nothing against the ownership. However, this move is exactly what is wrong with Boston's restaurant scene... just another sub-par, chain like option in our city that lacks creative, diverse establishments.
