Luxury Cruise Ship Fails Health Inspection

These days most major cruise ships pass health inspections with flying colors. But the 382-passenger all-suite Silver Shadow, one of the world's most luxe, has failed a surprise visit from the US Centers for Disease Control, USA TODAY reports. The CDC conducts twice-a-year surprise stops on ships in port, grading them on a 100 point scale. The Silver Shadow, whose rooms start at more than $1,000 a night, received a 84 (86 is considered failing). The agency has not yet released details on the reasons for the failing grade. However, the Silversea Cruises noted that it's the first time the ship has ever had inspection problems, and that it's working to address the CDC's concerns. The ship scored between 95 and 99 on its previous six inspections.
