DineLA Restaurant Week starts today and runs through July 26. Here are 10 newcomers to this year's list, but there are hundreds of restaurants to choose from, many creating special items specifically for Restaurant Week menus. Tuesday, July 16
To celebrate the Farmer's Market 79th anniversary, Short Order has 79-cent fries and $7.90 cocktail specials, like the Farmer's Market Smash, all week through July 21 (6333 W. 3rd St.; 323-761-7970).
Wednesday, July 17
Roam around downtown Culver City for the All-American Drink and Dessert Tasting happy hour. Check in at Melrose Mac or Lundeen's Gifts for the Third Wednesday passport, which has a list of participating restaurants and bars, and get it stamped each time you sample a patriotic drink or all-American desserts at places like Akasha, Tender Greens, Wildcraft Sourdough Pizza and Public School 310. Thursday, July 18
Melisse may not be participating in DineLA this time around, but Josiah Citrin is celebrating 14 years at the restaurant with a special Dine Melisse menu today and tomorrow, and again next week (July 23-16). Get the four-course deal for $75, dishes like corn ravioli with summer truffle; Chatham Bay cod with braised shelling beans and smoked tomato; Sonoma duck with figs and black rice; grilled wagyu flat iron steak with fermented kale and grilled onions; and passion fruit souffle glace. Friday, July 19
Check out Nick & Stef's Steakhouse for happy hour deals on the patio on Thursdays and Friday nights throughout the summer. The Off the Grill menu features BBQ dishes like marinated skirt steak with chimichurri, tri-tip sandwiches, or shrimp skewers with mango salsa for $10-$14, and specialty cocktails for $12. Mohawk Bend has beer specials every Saturday for brunch in Echo Park, including Belgian Summer Ale shandies made with fresh-squeezed lemonade and micheladas with Helles Lager, and this week Hangar 24's Coffee Chocolate Porter is on nitro, which is a great match for the Elvis French Toast (2141 W. Angeleno magazine's annual Live & Dine in LA event happens at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel today, a fete celebrating the 2013 restaurant issue (currently on newsstands now) with bites from Cooks County, Bestia, Petty Cash, Gorge, Hinoki & the Bird, Paiche and many more.
