Kermit’s Bake Shoppe opens for business on Washington Avenue in the Graduate Hospital neighborhood. The new venture from Adam Ritter (Sidecar Bar & Grille, Kraftwork) has set Monday, July 22, as the start date to begin serving classic pizza and a variety of creative cakes and breads.
The savory menu from Brian Lofink, who has been the chef at Ritter’s other two establishments, will include regular and gluten-free pizza with a variety of toppings, soups, hand pies and salads. Pizzas will range from $15-$20 and other grab-and-go bites are all under $10.
TLC Next Great Baker alum Chad Durkin is in charge of the baking side of things, and a variety of eight-inch cakes in flavors like carrot and tiramisu will fill a cold case at the front of the shop. Also look for pies, pralines, fudge, pop tarts and cream puffs. Focaccia, pita and baguettes (gluten-free) will also be available, and - on the weekends - croissants and bagels.
To start, the Kermit’s will be carryout only, although guests are welcome to sip La Colombe coffee at the long counter as they wait for pizza or nibble on a scone (call in your order ahead of time for quick pickup). Seats will come later, as will delivery and ordering via smartphone app. Hours are 11 AM-11 PM, Monday-Friday and 8 AM-11 PM, Saturday-Sunday.
