Hotels Cook Up Healthier Kids' Menus

Gone are the days when kids menu options were limited to chicken fingers and French fries. Hotels have increasingly been adding healthier, fresh and locavore options to restaurant and room service menus, ABC/Good Morning America reports. Hyatt has launched a For Kids, By Kids Family Cook-Off recipe contest, challenging young chefs to come up with tasty, nutritious breakfast options for the chance to win a free vacation. JW Marriott has partnered with nutritionist Keri Glassman to create a new JW Kids Menu. "Travel presents opportunities to try new things and even lets kids bring new food favorites or habits home with them," Glassman said. Fairmont’s menu upgrade is also designed to encourage kids to expand their food horizons, including fresher local ingredients. And at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress, kids get a three-course menu some adults would drool over courtesy of megawatt culinary star Alice Waters with pots of herbs brought to the table for kids to snip.
