Food Network Stars Gina and Pat Neely Announce Closure of Their Memphis Restaurants

Gina and Pat Neely of Food Network show Down Home With the Neelys announced on their Facebook page on Monday that their two Memphis restaurants were closing "indefinitely." A BBQ kiosk at the Fedex Forum also remains closed. The pair noted a desire to renovate and regroup, as they are not around enough to keep the restaurants in good shape. Meanwhile their NYC restaurant is still up and running.

They also commented on the Paula Deen racism scandal to ET Online, saying: "We were shocked and saddened to learn of the comments from Paula Deen. Racism of any kind from anyone is simply unacceptable and cannot be tolerated. In our own relationship, Paula has shown us kindness and generosity. We trust that Paula's apologies are sincere and hope there is a positive lesson to be learned from this situation." [FNG/Facebook/Grub Street]

  4. Rappers need to quit using the word too. If some people are allowed to use the word, it keeps the word around, so if you want the word to not be used, nobody should use it. It doesn't matter what color they are.

  7. I am a Memphian, and I vow to NEVER patronize their restaurants again if they ever bother to stay around enough to keep them up. Burning bridges where you got your start is never a good idea.
