Fabio Trabocchi Opens Casa Luca Downtown

Fabio Trabocchi’s Downtown Italian osteria Casa Luca opens this weekend. Named for his son who loves to cook with him, the restaurant honors his family heritage in Italy’s Le Marche region where he and his father would forage for ingredients and cook wonderful meals together. Trabocchi, whose highly regarded Fiola in the Penn Quarter hits fine dining notes, is playing for more casual conviviality here.

The handsome, spacious, big windowed setting is warmed with wood and red leather banquettes, and features engaging family photos. The moderately priced menu includes an array of intriguing appetizers, small bites and pastas that showcase farm-fresh produce, artisanal cheeses and salumi, along with seafood, grilled items and meat. Preview dinners drew the town’s movers and shakers, food mavens and a bevy of attractive young strivers congregating at the long marble-topped bar. Check out a preview below.
