Dining Deals and Events, July 15-21

Get into the Latin spirit with a night of dancing and tapas at Café Ba-Ba-Reeba. The Flamenco Dinner Show features musical ensemble, ‘Cuadro “El Payo”,’ along with classic Spanish dishes such as goat cheese croquetas, sweet potato bravas with pomegranate aioli and paella Valenciana. The event starts at 7 PM and tickets cost $15 (773-935-5000).

Hash House A Go-Go celebrates its first birthday with a dollar menu featuring “Beers, Biscuits and Sweet Bites.” Itsm such as flaky biscuits, and a mini dessert parfait with bread pudding and cans of PRB will be available for $1 between July 15 and 28 (312-202-0994).

Chef Roger Waysok at South Water Kitchen created a special menu to showcase the contrast of fire and ice. The five-course menu pairs watermelon carpaccio with habanera vinaigrette, ancho seared tuna with pickled jalapeño and jicama slaw, as well as ginger flan with honey poached pear. The dinner is part of Chicago Gourmet’s Wine & Spirit Dinner Series. Tickets cost $55 (312-236-9300).

The peak of the growing season always coincides with the pinnacle food event of the summer. This year, Green City Market’s Chef’s annual BBQ features dishes from nearly 100 local restaurants as well as Goose Island Beer and cocktails. Tickets for the event held in Lincoln Park cost $125.

If the Taste of Chicago wasn’t quite your scene, check out the scaled down and classed up Taste of River North. Friday though Sunday, the festival takes places at Ward Park along the Chicago River. Participating restaurants include Ai Japanese, Kinzie Chophouse, Green Door Tavern and Zocalo. There is a $5 suggested donation at the entrance.

Learn margarita 101 at a sampling of the popular summer cocktail at III Forks. Between 5 and 7 PM, taste batches of margaritas with a brand representative from Grand Marnier and then purchase the margaritas for $8.50 (312-938-4303).

Allium breaks out all the stops for National Ice Cream Day with a celebration that includes plenty of the cold stuff as well as a virtual ice cream social. From 3 to 6 PM, all ice cream will be available for $5 and milkshakes for $4. Try the Banana Curry Ice Cream, Sesame Ice Cream or Blood Orange Thyme Sorbet and then post the photo on Instagram with the hashtag #IceCreamLove for a chance to win dinner for two (312-799-4900).
