Cocktail Hour: Where to Drink Over the July 4 Weekend

David Alan, aka the "Tipsy Texan," will sign his book on Saturday at Breed & Co.
The Fourth of July means backyard barbecue and beer as well as fireworks. But before and after the fireworks, there are plenty of places to get your drink on. Austin 360 has a great list for the whole month of July, but here are some highlights for the holiday weekend.


1st Anniversary Beer Dinner at the Whip In 
The Whip In celebrates the first anniversary of its beer line with a five-course dinner paired with in-house brews. ($50, 6-10 PM, reservations at 512-442-5337)


VinoPalooza Wine Fest at Flat Creek Estate Vineyard and Winery 
Treat yourself to Texas wines, food and live music at the vineyard. ($15-$55 depending on level of entry, 4-8 PM)

Friday and Saturday 

Fino Agave Spirits Exploration 
Head to Fino to learn more about tequila, mezcal and sotol, with special agave-based cocktails and spirits to buy. (2905 San Gabriel St.)


Tipsy Texan Book Signing 
Local mixologist David Alan, the “Tipsy Texan,” will sign copies of his new book as well as offer recipe samples. (Breed & Co., 718 W. 29th St.; 1-4 PM)
