Senor Fish, The Spice Table and Weiland Brewery, all have to close and move on. Weiland is the first to go, having shut its doors on June 30 after 14 years. "We’ve been in limbo for years, we found a new spot and it’s time to roll," bar owner Rick Bennett told the Downtown News. He plans on reopening in Long Beach, although it may be under a new name. We expect there still will be garlic fries and a good happy hour.
The two remaining restaurants on that corner have until later this year to figure out what they'll do. Upon hearing the news, The Spice Table's Bryant Ng told us that it was the hardest news to take because the space, which has beautiful brick walls, high ceilings and just an all-around cool vibe, was as much a part of the soul of the restaurant as his spicy Singaporean and Vietnamese cuisine. Stay tuned for more news on all fronts.
