Eventide Oyster Co. and the dive-bar gem J's Oyster charmed with its cheap beers and amply stuffed sandwich. But, it's every food-obsessed New Yorker's dream to discover a tiny roadside shack serving the best lobster rolls, and that's just what we did.
Plant's Seafood is located off the highway in Bath, Maine and we literally stumbled across it while lost. The small stand has a walk up window and a few picnic tables strewn off to one side and serves a menu of inexpensive seafood including the glorious main event, a lobster roll brimming with sweet claw meat, lightly covered in mayo and served on a hot-off-the griddle bun. Forget Poland Spring, one bite of this, and you'll see what it means to be from Maine.
