Best Thing We Ate: Roscoe's Fried Chicken, No Waffle
Roscoe's House of Chicken N' Waffles. Ok, ok. Of course we knew that, but we never really looked at a menu whenever we'd hit one of the locations (Pasadena preferred over Hollywood for the shorter lines). You sit, you order an Herb's Special, you eat. But when a fried chicken craving hit and we didn't want all the fuss, we ordered the bird and a few sides and made a picnic. The greens were great, the potato salad ho-hum, and the grits, which we didn't order but somehow got in the bag anyway, were bland and gloopy. But that fried chicken, wow. Golden, juicy, flavorful and simply perfect. Didn't miss the waffle one bit, but it was a great reminder to add Roscoe's back to our list of top fried chicken contenders in LA.
