Best Thing We Ate Last Night: Cornbread Sundae at OddFellows

Sam Mason's innovative new ice cream parlor has been getting a lot of buzz, so we decided to check it out to see what the fuss was all about (aka we're addicted). After careful deliberation of a menu that includes cherry-miso-butterscotch scoops and a burnt marshmallow milkshake, we finally decided on the cornbread sundae - which ended up being quite a joy in the 90-degree heat. The salty-smoky-sweet sundae features cornbread ice cream mixed with blueberry compote and maple syrup, topped with bacon-scented whipped cream and crumbled cornbread - a combination that seems strange at first, but ultimately makes total sense. After all, it's essentially the best parts of a summer BBQ in one cold, creamy, refreshing dessert. Get it before the season ends! (175 Kent Ave., 347-599-0556)
