Best Thing We Ate: Espresso Shake at Go Get Em Tiger

The new Larchmont coffeehouse Go Get Em Tiger, the latest from Kyle Glanville and Charles Babinski of G&B Coffee, is as minimalist as it gets. Plywood box stools, a few tables, a corner bench, and one long counter where a couple of guys pull espresso or filtered coffee. That's it. Bags of Ritual, Heart and Forty-Ninth Parallel coffee beans perched on their shelves add color to the room, as do the vintage-looking red light fixtures. We do love the ice chest filled with bottles of G&B's own cold-brew - always delicious, no matter which beans they use for it - and croissants and cookies from someone known simply as "Pete the Baker." This all makes GGET stand out from the myriad coffee-shops in the neighborhood (there's an inordinate amount within a two-block radius), but then there's the GGET Shake.

It's a no-brainer in this weather: of course you want McConnell's amazing vanilla ice cream, espresso and some coffee grounds blended into a wonderfully thick coffee shake. No whipped cream, no powders, foams or fake sweeteners. It's as simple as GGET itself and absolutely divine. Apparently you can get the shake at the new G&B Coffee counter at the Grand Central Market, too. Thank goodness. You'll need it today.
