Weekend Planner: Free Ice Cream and Food Truck Face-Offs

Word on the street is there's a parade for some sports team tomorrow. When you are done playing hookie with the Blackhawks, here are this weekend's foodie events.

Night Market
Experience the culture of Asian night markets without leaving Chicago. The new Argyle night market kicks off tonight at 5 PM with food from Tank Noodle, Sun Wah BBQ, Tai Nam Market, Uptown Brownie and Phoenix Bean Tofu as well as scenes from Romeo & Juliet by performed by the Hypocrites.

Free Ice Cream
Sprinkles is breaking into the ice cream business, and here is the best part - they are putting cupcakes in it. Have a scoop of cherry vanilla adorned with a cupcake top or triple chocolate in a red velvet cone. Starting at noon on Friday, 150 free servings of the ice cream will be given away (312-573-1600).

Food Trucks
Food trucks rely on social media to alert customer of the truck’s whereabouts. So, when Techweek came to town, they partnered up for a night of food face-offs and good old-fashioned geekiness. The Food Truck Face-Off will be held on the south drive of Merchandise Mart from 6 to 8 PM on Friday. Participating trucks include Brand BBQ, Ice Cubed and The Fat Shallot.

Milwaukee Ave Arts Fest
The hipster-pocalypse is here all weekend. Starting Friday night and continuing though Sunday, the annual arts fest features a central hub of food and music in the square as well as free art exhibits on Milwaukee Avenue. Food will be provided by Longman & Eagle, Reno, Telegraph and Lula Cafe.
