June 15: Cookers will be smoking BBQ on Occidental’s Pennsylvania Avenue NW patio. Beer and bourbon will flow and the Honky Tonk Confidential band will be belting out familiar tunes. June 25: José Andrés has organized a Dine N Dash gastronomic tour through top Penn Quarter dining destinations including Azur Jaleo, Oyamel, Poste, Proof and Zaytinya. At each stop, guests will sample specialty plates and cocktails. The VIP option includes a drink with Andrés at his barmini. Proceeds benefit World Central Kitchen’s efforts to deal with hunger and poverty throughout the world (6-10 PM; $150, VIP, $350, go here for information and tickets).
June 30: Ten top chefs, including Scott Drewno (Source), Teddy Folkman (Granville Moore’s) and Dennis Marron (Poste), will compete in a Burger Battle to raise funds for Brainfood, a nonprofit organization that teaches healthy life skills to teenagers. Guests get to taste all the burgers, plus beer and desserts. The event takes place at Poste in the Penn Quarter (3:30-6:30 PM; $75; go here for tickets).
