Loosen your belts - it's time to eat, drink and socialize for great causes before summer vacations begin. Top chefs are hosting BBQs and dinner parties, organizing dine-arounds at top-flight venues, and competing for burger honors to raise money for worthwhile activities to help others help themselves. Check out the details below.
June 15: Cookers will be smoking BBQ on Occidental’s Pennsylvania Avenue NW patio. Beer and bourbon will flow and the Honky Tonk Confidential band will be belting out familiar tunes. Blueberry cobbler and snow cones are among the treats at this festive event to benefit MicroGreens, a nonprofit organization that helps low-income families eat healthy food (12-3 PM; $55, $60 at door, go here for tickets.)

June 20: Ruth Gresser ( Pizzeria Paradiso), along with Carla Hall (The Chew), Jamie Leeds (Hank’s Oyster Bar) and other top women chefs, is hosting a five-course dinner party to benefit Art Works Studio School’s work in bringing affordable/free art classes and camps to Prince Georges County youths (7 PM; $250, email, info@artworksnow.org for tickets and location).

June 25: José Andrés has organized a Dine N Dash gastronomic tour through top Penn Quarter dining destinations including Azur JaleoOyamel, Poste, Proof and Zaytinya. At each stop, guests will sample specialty plates and cocktails. The VIP option includes a drink with Andrés at his barmini. Proceeds benefit World Central Kitchen’s efforts to deal with hunger and poverty throughout the world (6-10 PM; $150, VIP, $350, go here for information and tickets).

June 30: Ten top chefs, including Scott Drewno (Source), Teddy Folkman (Granville Moore’s) and Dennis Marron (Poste), will compete in a Burger Battle to raise funds for Brainfood, a nonprofit organization that teaches healthy life skills to teenagers. Guests get to taste all the burgers, plus beer and desserts. The event takes place at Poste in the Penn Quarter (3:30-6:30 PM; $75; go here for tickets).
