For many New Yorkers this summer, it might be hard to imagine what visits to Long Beach would be like in the absence of the city's beloved boardwalk. News broke last month that the city's visit-worthy landmark, destroyed by Hurricane Sandy, would barely break ground come Memorial Day Weekend, with the project set to be completed November 2013. Despite fluctuating weather, Long Beach is definitely back, as evidenced by this past Memorial Day weekend. With the opening of new restaurants and a "welcome back" from some old city-favorites, the city's West End proved to be more ready than ever to bring on the summer season.
