Public School Grows, Now Open in Thousand Oaks

The folks behind the newish Public Schools in Downtown LA (612) and Culver City (310), have opened a third in Thousand Oaks. The growth of the new gastropub chain isn't surprising since it's the same group (Bob Spivak and company) behind all those Daily Grills. Like the others, Public School 805 has a subtle classroom theme, only this one has a long bar, big outdoor patio and lots of beer.

What you'll find on the lunch and dinner menu: things like Jidori brick chicken with white bean ragu; Colorado lamb burgers; Tuscan chopped salads; and wood-fired flatbread pizzas. There are 24 craft brews on draft and many more in the bottle, plus seasonal cocktails and wines on tap. Recess, aka happy hour, sees deals like parmesan truffle fries and speck and eggs for $4-$6. PS805 is open for lunch and dinner daily, and stays open till midnight, which seems late for The Promenade at Westlake, but good for moviegoers. Weekend-only breakfast launches on August 3.
