New York Hotel Charges For In-Room TV Use

Travelers have had it up to here with getting nickeled and dimed. The latest supplemental charge? An extra $25 a night for television usage. That’s the fee that the grand dame Mohonk Mountain House in New York’s Hudson Valley has just added, The Street reports. But few guests are complaining. The TV fee is meant to encourage guests to get out and explore the 40,000 acre nature preserve around them. So everything from yoga classes to boating, al fresco meals to valet parking is included in its rates, which start at $582 per night. But the boob tube? That’ll cost you. What do you think? Would you book a nature-friendy hotel that charges for TVs? How about a hotel that’s ditched them altogether?
