New Di Bruno's Coming to Ninth and Chestnut

The original Italian Market location
When Emilio Mignucci and his cousins took over the business from their grandparents, the single Di Bruno Bros. location was a pocket-sized cheese cave that had been serving the Italian Market for nearly 100 years. The new generation ramped things up in a big way, opening in 2005 the flagship emporium in Rittenhouse, along with a successful catering arm, followed by a cafe in the Comcast Center and a shop in Ardmore. Now The Insider confirms Mignucci and co. have signed on for another large retail location, this one at Ninth and Chestnut in The Franklin towers.

“I always knew we could give Philly an answer to New York’s Dean & DeLuca or Russ & Daughters,” Mignucci tells us, and he has certainly raised the Di Bruno Bros. profile to a level close to or on par with those gourmet institutions. The new shop will give a whole new section of the city - one that happens to be adjacent to the tourist-central historic district and is due for a resurgence - a chance to fall for Di Bruno’s imported products and ready-made food. A September opening is targeted.
