Chef Manny Torres Gimenez is known for transforming old restaurant spaces into something fresh, as he's done for Mr. Pollo (which he no longer operates) and Roxy's Cafe (which is still going with assistance from chef de cuisine Shawn Naputi, who formerly worked at Incanto). Now he's taken over the former Palace Steak House and rechristened it the Palace (3047 Mission). He opened the doors to his new 48-seat restaurant on June 1 with a menu that still features steak (albeit now Painted Hills and Snake River) with new dishes like pork chops, rotisserie chicken; there's also a five-course tasting menu for $50. Most vital to the neighborhood is a late-night menu served from 10 PM to midnight every day it's open (Wednesday-Sunday).
