Lobster Menus at Doc Magrogan’s and Meritage for National Lobster Day

While lobsters were once so plentiful they were considered food fit for servants, the tasty crustaceans are now a delicacy. July 15 is National Lobster Day, or so we’re told, and two Philadelphia restaurants are getting into the ocean spirit with special menus filled with lobsteriffic dishes.

From Thursday-Saturday, June 13-15, chef Karen Weinstein is offering seven new lobster items at both the University City and West Chester outposts of Doc Magrogan’s Oyster House. Bites range from $5 butter-basted lobster skewers to $12 lobster mac ‘n’ cheese to a $25 lobster bake with clams, mussels, potatoes corn and a Blue Point lager. Check out the menu below.

Chef Anne Coll at Meritage is also getting down with the sweet meat of lobster by focusing this week’s $39 tasting menu on the seafood treat. Through Friday, June 14, you can head to the Rittenhouse dining room for a five-course meal that includes a lobster spring roll, a mini lobster roll and a roasted lobster tail with stuffed zucchini blossoms. Menu is also below, call for reservations (215-985-1922).
