Lillie’s Q Resurrected After Fire

Three months is all it took for beloved Bucktown BBQ joint, Lillie’s Q, to bounce back after a fire tore through the basement of the restaurant. In March, a hot water heater ignited after dinner service; the fire spread through the restaurant and scorched the apartments above, causing significant fire and smoke damage. The restaurant continued to operate out of its French Market location, with a limited menu, while the flagship Lillie’s Q recovered.

"The last three months have been tough, but the support from everyone since the fire has been nothing short of amazing," chef-owner Charlie McKenna said. McKenna returned to the kitchen last night, and prepared his award-winning competition BBQ for patrons anxiously awaiting the return of the saucy stuff. The restaurant itself has been returned to its original splendor with wood tables, a bar with 30 beers and 20 varieties of moonshine as well as a menu of Southern classics.
