First Annual Windy City Smokeout Heats Up River North

When a mysterious cloud of smoke that oddly smells like pork blankets River North, do not be alarmed. It's just the smokers doing their thing at the first Windy City Smokeout. Hosted by Bub City, the three-day festival features live country music, ice cold beer and enough meat to make a vegetarian flee the city.

In addition to Bub City, participating restaurants include Smoque, Lillie’s Q and Texas' The Salt Lick, as well as Myron Mixon, nationally acclaimed author and chef at Pride & Joy BBQ in New York City and Miami. Feast your face on pulled pork sandwiches, black pepper beef ribs, babyback ribs, king rib sandwiches and more saucy, smoky offerings.

The festival kicks of on July 12, with a different country music artist performing each night and more than enough 'cue to last all weekend. Tickets cost $30 for one day or $60 for a three-day pass. Purchase tickets online.
