Chicago Dining Deals and Events, June 24-30

Happy Ceviche Day!
Believe it or not, there are other things going on tonight besides game six of the Stanley Cup Finals. Fountainhead hosts the first of a two Master Mezcalier classes. Tonight’s covers mezcal production, certification, law agaves, and denomination of origin, while tomorrow’s covers mezcal cocktails. Classes are $250, start at 11 AM and include lunch (773-697-8204).

Wine legend and winemaker, John Terlato of Terlato Family Vineyards, will be at Two for a special dinner prepared by executive chef Tom Van Lente. The meal pairs wines from Terlato’s diverse collection with the restaurant’s signature butcher-shop inspired cuisine. Tickets cost $65 (312-634-8363).

It’s time to add a new farmers market to the rotation. The first Logan Square night market starts at 5 PM. The night market features vendors as well as live performances as well as prepared food from local restaurants and artisans.

The “Evolution of Dance” was good; the evolution of tequila at Zocalo will be better. The evening features a presentation about the history and evolution of tequila by brand ambassadors for 1881 Pulque, El Buho Mezcal and Ocho Tequila as well as dinner. Tickets cost $65 (312-302-9977).

Silly food holiday alert! National Ceviche Day is going down at Nacional 27. Purchase and order of ceviche (shrimp and scallop, spicy octopus and crab, ahi tuna and watermelon, Hawaiian red snapper or shrimp and guacamole) and get a complimentary samples of Pisco Porton - the pisco of choice for the restaurant's cocktails (312-664-2727).

Standard Market transforms into a carnival complete with gourmet fair food (think boozy snow cones and soft pretzels with whole grain mustard and queso dip), games, fire jugglers, face painting and tastings from the specialty grocery store’s vendors (630-366-7030).

Step up the brunch game with a 5 Rabbit Cerveceria-inspired beer brunch at Eduardo’s Enoteca. The meal includes beer and beer-caramelized bacon flight, cocktails such as the “Brewdriver” and special a la carte brunch items (312-337-4490).
