On the other side of the neighborhood, Umami Burger has staked claim to the former K-Town BBQ restaurant on 3rd Street, right near Wurstkuche, Angel City Brewery and The Pie Hole. The look will be inspired by the neighborhood, so expect local art, industrial elements, furniture made by local designers like Westin Mitchell Design Group, and a heated courtyard for outdoor seating. The menu will be similar to the others around town, but there will be some signature items and a special burger exclusive to this location. While Umamicatessen is also Downtown, the Arts District and Broadway are practically worlds apart. This, as is the forthcoming Burbank/Toluca Lake location, is slated to open "sometime this summer" (738 E. 3rd St.).
