The Oakland Greek Festival runs May 17-19 at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Ascension. There will be cathedral tours, live music and dancing. Food-wise, lamb is a heavy focus at the fest, including whole lamb on a spit, lamb chops, and lamb sandwiches.

Ferry Plaza marks two decades of the glorious farmers market with a 20th Birthday Bash from 9 AM to noon on May 18. Free activities include a market-wide treasure hunt, while ticket holders ($20 admission) get a special birthday breakfast featuring mimosa and shortcake bars, the latter served with toppings by chefs from Craftsman + Wolves, Batter Bakery Fifth Floor and Les Elements.
Jam to the break
Participating in Bay To Breakers on the morning of May 19 will work off a ton of future calories and ramp up a big appetite to spend the rest of the day fueling. A free open house by a young independent food business called Jake's Castro Kitchen from noon to 5 PM offers a jam brunch tasting of 14 different flavors on waffles and biscuits.
Have some class
Also on May 19 is a pair of courses hosted by forageSF, the company behind the Underground Market and Wild Kitchen dinners. Choose from a wild mushroom cooking class at Mission Creek Kitchen or a session of urban sea foraging beginning at the St. Francis Jetty.
Roast at Chop
Chop Bar is throwing a pig roast from 4-8 PM on May 19. Brass Mafia plays live music, while Linden Street, Periscope, Fernet-Branca and Pastena provide the alcoholic assistance. Tickets for pork plates are $20.
