Weekend Planner: BLT Caviar and Blues Brunch

Dia de los Tamales celebrates its grand opening
BLT Caviar
Stop by David Burke’s Primehouse on Friday for the first day of the new spring menu and the introduction of Primehouse Bar. The bar will focus on pairings such as cheese and whiskey, as well as vodka and caviar, with combinations that include the BLT - “bacon” salmon caviar, tomato crema, endive and lemon pepper crumb cake paired with Tito’s vodka (312-660-6000).

Grand Opening
Dia De Los Tamales celebrates its grand opening on Friday with a ribbon ceremony with Alderman Danny Solis at 5 PM. The event falls on Pilsen’s monthly second Friday celebration that recognizes the neighborhood’s restaurants and small businesses (312-496-3057)

Food Truck Rally
Follow food trucks to Oak Park for the Great Food Truck Rally. The event welcomes Tamale Spaceship, Ice Cubed, Jerk, 5411 Empanada and more to the parking lot of Pilgrim Congregational Church on Saturday. It is happening in conjunction with the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Oak Park Walk.

Blues Brunch
Howells & Hood's buffet-style bunch debuts on Saturday with a side of bacon and a side of blues. Stations include a benedict station with lobster truffle hollandaise, a charcuterie station with house-cured salamis and sausages, as well as a pastry station for $29 per person (312-262-5310).
