Last we heard of Brandon Baltzley he was living in Maine with his dog and occasionally touring the country and Canada with culinary collective, CRUX. For those who may have forgotten about the headline-making chef, he was known for a quick rise to stardom via Alinea and then Tribute. Before Tribute opened to the public, Baltzley relapsed into cocaine addition and checked himself into rehab for the second time. Now, he tells the story of his struggle to achieve culinary perfection while fighting a debilitating addition. “Nine Lives: A Chef's Journey from Chaos to Control” is on shelves today and will be accompanied by a book tour though the US and Canada (including a stop in Chicago later this month). Following the tour Baltzley will focus on his new restaurant, TIMP, on a farm in Michigan City.
