The Best Thing We Dank Last Night: Goose Island’s 25th Anniversary Ale

Goose Island beer is good for several reasons. It has deep roots in Chicago, a well-balanced portfolio of simple, drinkable beers as well as complex seasonal and barrel-aged beers. To celebrate the brewery’s 25th anniversary, Good Island released the Anniversary Ale. This beer is a collaboration between Goose Island brewmaster Brett Porter, former Goose Island brewmaster Greg Hall and Goose Island Brewpub brewmaster Nick Barron. The beer has the rich malty and hoppy flavor similar to an English ale. It mirrors the flavors found in beers that inspired founder John Hall to open Goose Island in 1988. Coming in a 6.4 percent, it’s a beer you only have one of. We did just that with John Hall himself at Shaw's Crab House - the first restaurant in Chicago to open an account with Goose Island.

The beer is available on tap around Chicago as well as in six-packs. It will also be poured at the anniversary party on Sunday at the Fulton Street Brewery. Tickets are still available.
