Papagayo Is Opening in Charlestown in Time for Cinco de Mayo

The look of the original Papagayo, pictured here, is similar in the new location.
Today, the bar at Papagayo City Square in Charlestown will be open for dinner, with the possibility that food might be offered as well (no final word yet). But those eager to try the restaurant's second branch won't have to wait long - it's full speed ahead for full lunch and dinner tomorrow, Friday, May 3 - just in time for Cinco de Mayo.

The Charlestown location is larger than its original Summer Street sister, but the look and menu are the same. The menu features quesadillas, tacos, enchiladas, burritos, fajitas, special burgers with guacamole and more. Prices average around $15, but entreees are no more than $18 on the regular menu. A late-night menu is available after 10 PM.

The interior is bright and colorful, and displays the same multitudes of tequila (upwards of 100) at the bar. With about 170 or so seats, there are more booths (some of them seat up to six people), an area for private dining and a patio that seats upwards of 28 people.

Papagayo Charlestown hours are Monday through Wednesday, 11:30 AM-10 PM; Thursday through Saturday, 11:30 AM-11 PM; and Sunday, 11:30 AM-9 PM. The bar is open until 1 AM nightly, except  Sunday when it closes at 11 PM.
