More than 60,000 people are expected each day at this year's Outside Lands festival on August 9-11 in Golden Gate Park, with a sizable amount of attendees coming to focus on more than just musical headliners like Paul McCartney, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nine Inch Nails and Phoenix. The occasion has also come to be known as a great tasting event for food, wine and beer - a convenient way to sample items from established restaurants as well as mobile vendors. Craft brew area Beer Lands returns for the second year, this time with new local participants like Social Kitchen & Brewery and Almanac Brewing, while Wine Lands features tastes from 36 wineries.
New to the 75-vendor food lineup are restaurants such as Rich Table (serving Evan Rich's iconic sardine-threaded potato chips and porcini doughnuts), Nopalito (doling out totopos con chile), and Wise Sons Deli (pastrami sandwiches and pastrami cheese fries). Sugar fiends, take note: still to be confirmed this year is the lineup for Choco Lands dessert area, which transforms a part of the park into a scene from the Candyland board game, but we do know that confectioner Charles Chocolates will return to the fest to serve outrageous and over-sized s'mores.
