Midtown Brasserie Cognac Opening on Upper East Side This Week

Five-year old Midtown brasserie Cognac is getting a new location this week in the form of Cognac East, opening Friday on Lexington Avenue at 70th Street. Chef Florian V. Hugo (who is in fact a descendant of Victor himself) has teamed up with the owners of Serafina for the new entry, which stays true to name with an extensive Cognac selection of over 50 labels.

Guests can sip on the spirit and enjoy classic fare like cheese souffle and lobster bisque as they sit at a small outdoor cafe or at one of the tables in the bi-level dining room. This location is going to be up and running for tea service, here called "Le Goƻter," which will feature tea sandwiches, scones and pastries from 2:30 to 5 PM daily (963 Lexington Ave.; 212-249-5100).
