Mémé Fried Chicken Revival at American Sardine Bar

When Mémé closed after five years, one of the most-common laments was for fried chicken Thursdays - the weekly lunch special which would be no more. Why was it so great? Simplicity and taste. Two pieces of dark-meat fried chicken were paired with a housemade biscuit and a Miller High Life for a grand total of $11. Get happy, because the greatness is back, if only for one day.

Scott Schroeder convinced David Katz (currently with Creekstone Farms) to do a one-day pop-up lunch at American Sardine Bar, and the deal will be exactly the same as it always was. The deal starts at 11 AM at the Point Breeze bar, and runs until the chicken runs out.

Side note 1: While you're there, make sure to take a look at the new American Sardine Bar mural, just completed by artist Maria Beddia (sister of Pizzeria Beddia owner Joe) on the side of the building.

Side note 2: If you want to start drooling, head over to Meal Ticket and read Schroeder's account of his weekend eating in Montreal, including an outrageous dinner at Cabane a Sucre au Pied de Cochon.
