Do This: Cliff’s Edge in Silver Lake will be holding a community mixer on Saturday, June 1 from 2-4 PM. Chef Vartan will be serving potato fritters with lemon aïoli; and fava bean hummus and steak tartar with fennel salsa and bone marrow aïoli while neighbors and friends mingle on the beautiful back patio. The event costs $35 per person and proceeds from the event will help build the Micheltorena Street School’s Computer Lab. As an extra added bonus, Angel City Brewery will be pouring Angeleno IPA and Eureka for only $5 per glass.
Eat This: Drive out to the Santa Monica coast on Sunday, June 2 for “Suds & Shellfish” at Casa del Mar’s Catch. The restaurant is ditching the white table cloths for newspapers, so you can roll-up your sleeves and eat with your hands from 4-8 PM. The four-course tour of regional seafood favorites includes Maryland soft-shell crab rolls, Louisiana peel ’n’ eat shrimp and Santa Barbara spot prawns, all for $45 per person or $60 with beer pairings.
