James Taylor Not Joining Hometown Comfort, But Will Appear at Boston Strong

James Taylor
James Taylor is not playing at the Hometown Comfort event in Dorchester on May 19. Though organizers tried to get the popular singer-songwriter to perform at the community event to benefit Boston Marathon bombing victims and first-responders, he can’t.

“He’s working as hard as he can, and he can’t be everywhere,” said Ellyn Kusmin, an assistant to James Taylor.

Taylor along with Carol King, Aerosmith and a host of other bands and comedians are playing the sold-out Boston Strong: An Evening of Support and Celebration benefit concert May 30 at TD Garden.

“Everyone involved has responded from the heart in a spontaneous and simultaneous desire to be there, and to do what we can for the city we love,” Taylor told The Berkshire Eagle. “I am honored to be part of it, and I can't wait."

Hometown Comfort is a daylong event taking place May 19 at the IBEW Local 103 at 256 Freeport St. in Dorchester. The event includes family activities and entertainment, an opportunity to donate blood, and an evening tasting of food and drink, 6-9 PM. The tasting event features Ashmont Grill, Tavolo, Nubar and many other restaurants and chefs. Click here for details and tickets.
