Italian Market Festival, and it’s coming to South Ninth Street this weekend. What makes it so great? Amazing kettle corn, sugary-salty perfection of fresh-popped kernels. Mangos on a stick. Bites of meat and cheese and more meat and more cheese. Chocolate. Cannoli. And so on, all available from vendors that line the street.
In addition to the great food, look for craft vendors with clothing, jewelry and art. There’s live entertainment at three different stages along the fest, which runs up Ninth all the way from Federal to Fitzwater. New this year is the Fiat Fun Zone, a kids area that’ll be set up at Montrose with balloon art, facepainting and a magician. Since the festival runs 11 AM-6 PM on both Saturday and Sunday, there’s pretty much no excuse to miss out on the South Philly hospitality and fun.
