Han Dynasty Expanding to NYC

The famous dan dan noodles
Hot news broke on Eater yesterday: Han Dynasty is expanding, big time. Not only did Han Chiang give word that he’s moving his Old City Sichuan across Chestnut Street (into the huge space left empty when Reserve steakhouse closed), he also confirmed a signed lease in NYC’s East Village.

Early July is the target date for the opening at 90 3rd Avenue, formerly home to Montien Thai. The NYC launch will come a full four months before his lease is up at 108 Chestnut in Philly, when he’ll take the Center City operation to its new home after “throwing a massive going away party” at the original spot.

Handy Nasty, as it’s affectionately known, is famous for mouth-stinging, flavor-intense Sichuan dishes that make you beg for more. It’s responsible for getting Kevin Sbraga to love eating Chinese food for the first time, and has been featured on Vice Munchies as a favorite of Amis’ Brad Spence. NYC, get ready for it to hurt so good.
