Food Truck of the Week is our weekly summer tribute to Chicago's booming food truck industry. We highlight the people putting the pedal to the metal in the street food scene.
The name Hannah Banana is simple, reminiscent of playground nicknames and rhyme games. But there is nothing simple about the sandwich donning the name. It consists of Nutella and a banana purée spread on panini bread, thrown in the deep fryer. The kicker is that it's made on a truck. The Toasty Cheese truck, to be exact, an under-the-radar grilled cheese mecca roaming the suburbs since October. It recently acquired its mobile food preparer license for the City of Chicago and brought its impressive lineup of signature and build-you-own sandwiches Downtown. An oozing grilled cheese sandwich is waiting for you on a truck. Your bagged lunch just got a lot less appealing.
