First Look: Old School Brooklyn Channels the '30s in Carroll Gardens

A couple weeks ago, a new restaurant decided to kick it old school when it quietly opened in Carroll Gardens. The dining room of aptly-named Old School Brooklyn is meant to channel a Brooklyn Parlor c. 1930 - check out that Singer sewing machine, family photos and mismatched vintage cutlery (all of which channel plenty of c. 2013 borough restaurants that we've been to).

Chef David Buico is at the helm in the kitchen and he's basing his fare on home-cooked meals he had as a kid in Bay Ridge, so expect and Italian inspired selection including pork and veal meatballs and cavatelli with sausage ragu and broccoli rabe. The restaurant is now open for dinner at 520 Court Street and brunch is on the way (718-407-0047).
