El Chile Moves to South First Street

You'll still be able to find specials like these crabmeat enchiladas at the new location
Today East Austin staple El Chile announced plans to move the restaurant to buzzing South First street. Eater Austin has the scoop and notes that the new location will be the now-closed La Reyna space and will be designed by Joel Mozersky (La Condesa, Uchi, the Highball). From the press release:
"'With so many new and exciting restaurants opening on South First Street, we think that a familiar face will be a welcome change of pace for South First Street diners,'" says owner Carlos Rivero. ‘We love our Manor location and are glad to still have a presence in that neighborhood with El Chilito and Flat Top Burger Shop.’"
The South First locale is slated to open at the end of May, with new menu items and the old classics (including the famous smoky salsa).

We're curious to see what will happen, since it wasn't so long ago that El Chilito shuttered on Congress Avenue and El Chile on Barton Springs Road switched names to El Alma. Will the new location be more successful than those ventures?
