Chris Phelps and Zak Walters Close Storefront Deli Indefinitely

File this one under BOOO. A late-breaking announcement just came from Chris Phelps and Zak Walters, co-chefs and owners of Salt's Cure, that they shuttered their delicious Los Feliz deli, Storefront, today. The little shop garnered a lot of praise for its housemade everything, from the breads to the bacon (we were partial to the breakfast sandwich), but after only seven months, the duo decided to close. "We regret that we have to make this announcement," Phelps says via a statement. "Storefront was a real passion for us, and we never got to see it come to fruition." Walters adds: "The concept of a fully sustainable sandwich shop was more than just an idea, it was the ideal. It’s really too bad that our vision could not be executed within the confines of the current business arrangement."

No further details on why this happened or if Storefront will reemerge in a new location, but Dustin Lancaster, who owns Bar Covell next door and co-owned Storefront, will maintain ownership of the building lease. You can still find Phelps and Walters - and that bacon - at Salt's Cure.
