Upper East Side Southern Italian 83 ½ has swung its doors back open after closing in January with new chef Will Foden of Boston (replacing Ryan Skeen). Foden joins wine director Jean-Luc Le Du (Daniel) in the relaunch which will focus around a seasonal menu of Sicilian-inspired dishes. Expect small plates like baccala poplettes, braised salt cod dumplings, tomato, pepperoncino; a savory caponata, tangy eggplant stew with celery, onion, raisin, pine nut and capers; primi dishes include housemade tagliatelle with zucchini blossoms, ash-cooked tomatoes, anchovy and Sicilian capers; or the spring lamb ragu Gnocchi with fava beans and ricotta salata. The eatery is only open for dinner right now, Tuesday-Sunday.
