Who said you have to drink margaritas only for Cinco de Mayo, or the week leading up to it, for that matter? A Paloma, usually made with tequila and some sort of grapefruit soda like Fresca or Squirt, is a much more refreshing quaff in our opinion, at least in the hands of bar manager Dan Long at Alcove's Big Bar in Los Feliz. Instead of using grapefruit soda, he was mixing tequila with Stiegl's Radler, a light grapefruit-flavored beer, which gave it an extra dollop of savory booziness. It was the happy-hour special yesterday, going for $7 a pop, and all we know is by the time we tried to order one more, the Steigl was already gone. Uno mas, por favor.
